Environmental Justice: The fair treatment of everyone no matter their race
Our Project:
1. Studied environmental injustices in different countries to get comfortable with the topic
2. conducted interviews in City Heights and asked questions about what the neighborhood could improve for the community
3. Wrote "Voices of the Neighborhood" an essay with information about City Heights and the interviews
4. Researched homelessness and wrote an action plan
5. Created a painting about my writing for our class mural
Powerful Idea from Interview:
The man we interviewed from the food drive made a good point and said, “I think you know obviously there’s issues that need to be addressed like homelessness, addiction is serious, suffering that’s on the street. Some of those areas need attention. Like here for example, people are suffering from hunger.”
This began my research about the homeless and what society could do to help them.
Research and Action Plan:
Mental health affects homeless by causing problems like disease, substance abuse, and drug addiction, therefore American society needs to help homeless by giving them professional advice and intensive community-based service.

Mural Image:
My image is placed on the most populated homeless section of City Heights. It shows a homeless man sleeping with newspaper as a blanket, to put the point across that we need to help out. On the roads it says homelessness sometimes leads to addiction. ON another road it says advocacy - public support or help
